Institute for Higher Military Command

The Institute for Higher Military Command is the most senior institute at the National
Defence Academy. Its main tasks comprise instruction of, and research in, the military
core sciences, such as military strategy, operations, tactics, military command studies
and logistics as well as administering all training courses for higher leaders of the MoD,
including also the Strategic Leadership Course of the Republic of Austria.
In addition to its numerous seminars, the following training courses and degree courses
are held on a regular basis:
    • General Staff Course;
    • higher training courses for the higher quartermaster and legal advisor service as
      well as the higher military and the higher civilian service;
    • university for applied sciences master programme Military Command
    • Staff Course 2 (brigade-level).
